Stuart JH Meet

On May 2ndthe Huskies were able to compete at home in the Stuart Meet.  The day proved to be one of the better overall days that we have had so far this year, a little chilly to start with but warmed up throughout the day.  On the day, the boys gained 13medals and 20 PR’s while the girls won 40 medals and 37 PR’s.

With the short turn-around from the conference meet on Tuesday, we chose to make sure to get as many people in multiple events as possible especially those who were limited on Saturday.  The one area where we did back off was the girls 4x4and boys 4x1 relays.  We knew we needed to load up on the 4x4 boys and and 4x8 girls to get them to qualify for Gothenburg.

Both of those relay teams were highlights of the meet.  The girls 4x8 of Berkleigh Dvorak, Emerson MladyFelycia Kerkmanand Leah Pistulka cut 33 seconds and ran 10:57, while the boys 4x4 of Hunter Wetlauffer, Jamison Slaymaker, Ezra Sholes and Brody Galyen cut almost 8 seconds and ran 3:54.  Both of those times might get them in to Gothenburg but we’ll have to wait and see.

Other highlights from the meet were Jaydyn Kratz 3rd place finish in the 100.  Brody Galyen with a 56.84 in the open 400.  Carson Desieve and Jaden Davis with PRs in the 1600.  The young boy throwers who many of them PR’d.  Allie Oligmueller’s 4th place in the 200.  The girls 400 was a fast race as London Konrad was first in 62.21 and Hollynn Konrad ran 64.35 for third.  The girls 800 group ran extremely well.  Hunter and Carter Wetlauffer in the high jump. Brooke Carey carried over her momentum from Saturday as she was second in both throws.  Girls throwers were 6 of 12 in PR’s.  KamrynnSlaymaker and Ansley Cadwallader both went 4’6’’ in the high jump.  Maizy Poessnecker came away with a PR in the 4x8 and 1st in the PV.  Sadie Keogh PR’d and got 5th in the long jump.  Olivia Rentschler picked up a new event and came home with 5th place in triple jump, while teammates Jordyn Osborne and Kearsten Keogh also jumped well and came home with medals.

A big shout out to Emerson Mlady who PR’d in the 4x8 with a 2:43, then got 6th in the 400 with a 70.27 PR and finished it off with a 69+ split in the 4x4 subbing in for another athlete.  Taylor Schaaf began the day by going 31’ 10.5 in the triple jump to give herself a chance to qualify for Gothenburg.

This was a positive day all around as the end of the season looms.  Next up for the Huskies will be the Plainview meet on Tuesday May 9th, and then the junior high state meet in Gothenburg the 13th. Gothenburg will cut off entries on Friday May 5th at 10:00, the top 16 relays and 24 individuals will have the opportunity to compete and then possibly some additional qualifiersTop rankings and full results to the Bronco stampede can be found on athletic.net.
