Plainview JH Meet

On May 9ththe Huskies were able to compete in Plainview for their JH meet.  It proved to be another decent day after the rain rolled away and our marks proved that again by attaining 21 PR’s on the boys side and 27 PR’s on the girls.  The boys brought home 11 medals to 33 medals on the girls.

As for entries in this meet, we were limited to four per event and only 1 relay.  This was a change from the year before as we were allowed 6 per event and 2 relays.  So with that unexpected change and the need to get a few Gothenburg kids ready to go it did limit what we were able to do and enter.

Some highlights from the meet were Jadyn Kratz with a 3rd place finish in the 100.  Ezra Sholes running the 200 for the first time and getting 2ndDaleni Knust and Allie Oligmueller with PR’s and 3-4th in the 200. Emerson Mlady continuing to come along with a 2nd place finish in the 400.  Sadie Keogh with a nice 800 getting 3rd. Ethan Hawkins ran his fastest 800.  Carson Desievewith a huge PR in the 1600.  Carter Wetlauffer with a nice run in the 100 H to get under 20 for the first time. Our girls had great depth in the 100 and 200 H winning 7 medals.  Jamison Slaymaker ran faster in the 200 H getting first.  The girls 4x1 of Makenna Mitchell, Jewel Beckwith, London Konrad and Hollynn Konrad ran faster at 52.77 winning 1st.  Brooke Carey continued to shine with a first in the shot.  The young 7th grade boys keep getting better in the shot.  Lane Cole with a nice PR and 4th place in the Discus.  Ansley Cadwallader and KamrynnSlaymaker clearing 4’ 8’’ in the High Jump.  Congrats to Hunter Wetlauffer with a PR in HJ at 5’ 4’’.  Berkleigh Dvorak cleared 8’ 6’’ in the PV and Maizy, Calla and Leah all got 7’0’’.  Mason Troidl got a 2 foot PR in the Long Jump.

This was a really solid year overall as the girls team continued to show strength and win every meet.  The boys with a limited number continued to be right in the runner-up area.  We will miss these 8th graders but they have a nice foundation moving forward in Track and Field and all sports as we know this is just a brief window heading into high school.
