West Holt Public Schools is getting ready to roll for the 2023-24 school year. As a parent, many times there are different feelings for your child as they head to school, from excitement and joy, to anxiety and unsureness. Whichever it is, take a deep breath and let it happen. Whether your child is finishing their high school career, or just beginning elementary school, parents need to be reminded to enjoy all of it as it happens. Before you know it, next year will be here and your child will be a year older and moving forward. Time never stops, so don’t forget to enjoy each year in your child’s journey through school.
One major change to this school year is that West Holt will not be printing off the hard copy calendars any longer. All of our most updated information can be found by downloading our new app that is located in both the apple app store and google play store. Search West Holt Public Schools and you will find the app. You can also go to our website at www.westholtsp.org and get all information on our district. You can connect the calendar to your phone calendar as well. There will be more information to come on how to accomplish that! You won’t only be up to date on the calendar, but you will get to see great updates of what is going on at West Holt and you can even set up notifications to come through your app!
As the school year creeps up on us, it is essential that families update all contact information. This can be done through the website www.westholtps.org. Please login and check through your information. The link is located in the “Parent Resources” section. The top link is “Infinite Campus Parent Portal”. Checking over this information now will certainly save you time at the beginning of the year.
The faculty and staff are getting geared up for a new school year at West Holt Public Schools. Many teachers and staff have been in and out over the last couple of weeks getting their classrooms ready for the kickoff of the year. There are a few new faces among our faculty this year. Stay tuned to the live feed in the app and social media for a highlight on each of them! The new staff members are:
Rhiannan Smalley – 3-year-old Preschool
Drew Purviance – 3rd Grade
Kylie Coyle – 4th and 5th Grade
Another significant change is the beginning of the year schedule. Other than the half day on Wednesday the 16th, there will be no other early dismissals to start the year like we have had in years past. Another change is the high school and junior high will not be split for the first day, and all students will come to school from 8:03–11:30am.
Finally, preschool and kindergarten parents, please get enrollment information to the school as soon as you can, and JH/HS parents, don’t forget about activity physicals! Physicals are required for all kindergarteners, 7th grade students, and any 8th-12th grade student who will be participating in athletics. In all cases, feel free to contact the main office of the school with any questions at 402-925-2848.
