Novice Wins Championship at Ord Speech Invite

Why was the chicken so funny? She was a real comedi-hen! On Saturday, January 27th, the West Holt Speech Team traveled to the home of the Chanticleers in Ord. They ran from event to event like chickens with their heads cut off and ended up doing an egg-cellent job. The top six individuals in novice and the top eight individuals in varsity received a medal in each event.
The novice speakers had an egg-stra special day. In entertainment speaking, Chance Bardwell was 7th, Lane Cole was 6th, and Daleni Knust was 2nd. Elizabeth Olson placed 1st in extemporaneous speaking and POI. In informative speaking, Peyton Olberding was 5th and Emersyn Mlady was 2nd. Peyton Olberding also placed 4th in humorous prose. Cale Deseive placed 1st in persuasive. In duet acting, Jacob Panning and Madisyn Hilkemeier placed 5th, Peyton Olberding and Emersyn Mlady were 4th, and Daleni Knust and Aila Nowlin finished 3rd. The novice took home the trophy as team champions.
In the varsity division, Alyssa Dobias placed 7th in POI. In extemporaneous speaking, Carter Gotschall was 7th and Brooklynn Butterfield was 5th. In poetry, Iris Sanchez placed 8th and Abigail Thiele was 3rd. Drew Martin garnered 2nd in entertainment speaking.Mary Belle Hamilton placed 1st in humorous prose. Madysen Kramer went 8th in serious prose. In informative speaking, Madison Kratz placed 7th and Aubrei Clouse placed 6th. The varsity team ended up 4th overall.
