WH Junior High Speech Team Finishes 4th at Norfolk Invite

The West Holt Junior High Speech Team traveled to the Central Valley Invite in Scotia last Wednesday, May 24 and tied for fourth out of nine teams. Attending a meet in the middle of the week was a first for junior speech, and it was rough on the speakers and the coaches the next day since we didn’t get home until 11:00 PM, which was not in the original plan. Sweatpants might have been worn by more than just the students on the following day.

The team did come away with several awards as follows: Olivia Rentschler 4th in declamation; Kaimberlynn Clouse 5th in informative; Ian Cambras 3rd, Allie Oligmueller 5th, and Taylor Nowlin 6th in entertainment; Leah Pistulka 5th in humorous; Olivia Rentschler and Ian Cambras 3rd in duet; Kamrynn Slaymaker, Olivia Rentschler, Jordyn Osborne and Hannah Hooey brought home the gold in OID.

Olivia Rentschler also placed in the top ten earning 50 points for the team. She tied for 6th overall, but we are not sure how the tie was broken.

If you would like to support the junior high speakers this week, we have two events: Speech Recital on Thursday, May 2 at 7:00 PM and West Holt JH Speech Invite, Saturday, May 4 starting at 9:00 AM.
