Every Monday leading up to graduation, I’ll (Mrs. Ruppert) be sharing West Holt seniors and their plans for what comes next. Here are this week’s seniors. Thank you to Mrs. Kraus and her Yearbook class for creating these pictures using AI and thank you, Amber Shane, for allowing us to use the school pictures in this process. It was a great way for students to learn about AI creation and copyright issues with this quickly evolving technology.
This time of year brings so many emotions. As a school counselor, it is truly a privilege to watch these students grow—not just academically, but as people. I’ve seen them face challenges, celebrate successes, and become the young adults they are today.
It’s bittersweet knowing I won’t see them in the halls much longer. Letting them go is never easy.
But more than anything, I feel incredibly proud. They are ready—ready to take on new challenges and create their own paths.
It’s a little scary to “push them out of the nest,” but it is also beautiful to watch them spread their wings and fly.

Morgan Mitchell - Nursing - University of Nebraska - Lincoln
Ryan Hawkins - Workforce or Northeast Community College

We are excited to share two wonderful additions to support literacy at our school! 📚
Thanks to a READ Grant we received from theTeammates program, students can now enjoy our brand-new Book Vending Machine - making reading even more fun and rewarding! In addition, through the READ Grant, we have received engaging literacy games, and STEM activites for grades K-6 that are already bringing excitement and learning together in our classrooms. 4th graders got a chance to play the games and build some cool creations last Thursday.
We are so grateful for these opportunities to inspire a love of reading and support our students’ growth as confident readers and future engineers!

There is a statewide effort about the upcoming Nebraska Warmline, which is a partnership of United Way of the Midlands, 211, Boys Town, Nebraska Children and DHHS. The purpose of this line is to connect families to resources before they need to be reported to the Hotline and enter the Welfare System. We need your help. We are now ready to begin gathering early community input and are asking for your support by sharing the survey through your collaborative networks and partners.
The survey collects initial feedback from community members about the Warmline such as: how it should be structured, what communities need most, and what barriers or opportunities exist. This information will directly inform the pilot phase of the Warmline’s implementation, with additional opportunities for feedback to come throughout the process.
Survey window: April 1 – May 1
Who can participate: Any adult community member

The music program at West Holt is gearing up for contest in 3 weeks! The Junior High Band students had a video chat with Wayne State College Dean of Fine Arts Dr. David Bohnert for some advice pre-contest. We had some technical difficulties but enjoyed having some advice from a very knowledgeable source!

Offier Forker will spend 3 sessions teaching the girls how to be aware of their surroundings and how to react should someone try to hurt them. The Advanced History class has started another book! We are currently reading Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly!

The senior Introduction to Literature class just finished their Great Gatsby projects. Students could choose from an array of projects. Options included acting out a scene, rewriting a scene, creating a mural, hosting a talk show with the characters as guests, or hosting a Gatsby-style party. One group, comprised of Madalyn Pistulka, Ava Hoffman, Marek Dvorak, Avery Nemetz, and Taylor Walnofer, hosted a Gatsby-inspired party while Morgan Mitchell created a beautiful mural.

See Mrs. Ruppert with any questions!

JH track meet at Ainsworth has been postponed today.
