Pumpkin Investigation in Functional Skills!
Students tested their knowledge about pumpkins by investigation and discovery. They compared sizes, measured the height and circumference, counted the number of lines around a pumpkin, and discovered that pumpkins do float!!!
Mrs. Olson's first graders enjoyed writing what they are thankful for. Their writings were published in the Atkinson Graphic.
Miss Williams will soon complete her student teaching in kindergarten. We wish her the best in her future teaching career. We will miss you.
The Employability Class made homemade pizza this week. They even made the dough from scratch! They gave the final product a thumbs up and said they'd use the recipe at home too.
The West Holt Girls Wrestling team kicked off the season Thursday with a win over Ainsworth (42-24). The squad consists of 11 girls. This Saturday we will be in O’Neill and Monday West Holt will host a Girls Wrestling Tournament for the very first time. Wrestling starts at 3:00 p.m. Hope you can make it and watch some great wrestling
7th & 8th grade Science classes practiced their STEM skills by building & testing devices to launch candy pumpkin. The farthest distance traveled by a pumpkin during final tests was nearly 19 meters!
This week the 3 year old preschoolers practiced the letter I. We also worked on our counting skills by playing the ice cream scoop game!

The Elementary Student Council is hosting a cake raffle! Come out and support their efforts on Dec. 4th as well as our Lady Huskies!

A few weeks ago two West Holt students got to participate in the Nebraska All-State Choir. They sounded fantastic alongside the 314 4th and 5th graders from across the state of Nebraska!
In Spanish, we are learning about Costa Rica and the importance of ecoturismo. We even had a former student come visit to share her Costa Rica experience when she studied abroad and how Spanish has impacted her life! We are reading Robo en la Noche.

Reading Fun Night 2023 was a huge success. We had over 300 people in attendance to listen to children's author Kevin Lovegreen. He writes books for children about fishing, hunting, and other outdoor adventures. It was a fun night!
