On Wednesday, March 13th, West Holt Schools hosted speaker Mike Donhue. Mike talked to students in grades 4-12 and WH staff.
Mike Donahue is the founder and director of Value Up, a Nebraska based motivational company that focuses on positive school culture. He has spoken to over a million students throughout the last three decades in live settings. Mike has authored four books: Reinventing My Normal, Hidden Scars, Talking to Brick Walls, and his latest book, Value Up.
He is a highly sought-after speaker and one of the best on the subjects of respect, bullying, resiliency and other school climate issues. He has spoken alongside the likes of Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, and Arne Duncan, the Secretary of Education under President Barack Obama. His candid style and authentic persona keep students engaged throughout the entire presentation and leaves them inspired.
Mike also presented to WH parents in the evening.

Husky Track and Field got the season started today by competing in the Bulldog Challenge at Concordia University in Seward. West Holt Public School is currently accepting applications for 7-12 ELA Teacher beginning in the 2024-25 school year. Head Speech Coach is also available but not required. Appropriate endorsement or a provisional certification is expected. Middle level endorsements will be strongly considered as well. The district will consider other applicants who hold a teaching certificate and are willing to work toward appropriate endorsement. Other coaching and sponsorship is also available with this position. West Holt has a long time history of success in the Speech program with multiple state qualifiers ever year in Class C-1. There is great support for the speech team in the school and community. We host our own WH invite as well as having had the opportunity to host the district meet the last couple of years.
