Happy Leap Day 2024 from Mrs. Hale's and Mrs. Roemer's Kindergarten classes!
The Elementary Student Council set a goal this school year to raise funds for playground equipment. They hosted a cake raffle and a hat day at school. The Elementary Booster Club graciously offered to match the money raised! With everyone's support, many new items were purchased!

The 8th grade English students have been learning about The Holocaust through a variety of stories.
We have read The Diary of Anne Frank play, watched a show on Miep's story, listened to our class read aloud book, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, and now are starting on our literature circle books. Students were able to choose which book they'd like to read and then are to meet with their classmates once a week to discuss their chosen book.
From Mrs. Frickel: 7th graders working on surface area problems. I love listening to their conversations as they work through each “situation”.
These students placed in the top 10 points winners at Battle Creek out of 72 participants: Peyton #1, Elizabeth #6, Jacob #7, and Emersyn #8!

Girls on the Run Seeks Coaches at West Holt
Girls on the Run of Nebraska is celebrating its 20th school year of programming, and we need coaches to continue the GOTR tradition at West Holt.
We’re looking positive-minded, can-do volunteers to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident to coach two days per week after school from mid-March to early May.
You DON’T have to be a runner to get involved – you just need to live a healthy lifestyle, project a positive attitude and have passion to help young girls put their best foot forward with our transformational social-emotional learning program.
Girls on the Run is an innovative after-school program that combines exercise, education and mentoring to promote self-esteem, goal-setting and healthy living in third- through fifth-grade girls. Teams meet for 75 minutes twice a week for two months to play interactive running games and train for a 5K run/walk at the end of the season. Lessons on goal-setting, health, communication and teamwork are incorporated with the physical training, so girls get a well-rounded positive experience in a noncompetitive atmosphere.
Coaching entails:
Sixteen 75-minute meetings with your team for two months
Two hours on 5K Day
Training (two hours of online modules and an in-person meeting in February)
CPR/First Aid, if required (one coach per site)
Find out for yourself why “Girls on the Run is so much fun!” – visit www.GOTRNebraska.org or call 402-483-0373 to learn more about this rewarding (and FUN!) short-term volunteer opportunity.
